For the ARD documentary „Fjords, the North Cape and the Northern Lights - Norway's legendary Hurtigruten routes“ I had the honour of composing and producing the entire soundtrack.
The film accompanies one of the most impressive sea voyages in Europe: along the Norwegian coast, through deep fjords, up to the North Cape - accompanied by changing light moods, raw nature and the special atmosphere of the Hurtigruten. My task was to carry these images musically, to condense them and to connect them emotionally without taking the air out of them.
The score „Dreams of the sea“ consciously moves between expansiveness and restraint:
calm, flowing motifs for landscape and sea, subtly tension-building elements for movement, weather and travelling - always with the aim of supporting the narrative and not dominating it.
The documentary was first broadcast on ARD on 30 March 2018 and is still available in the ARD media library.
